Established in 1923 by Mary and Vincent Grittani, the company began as a modest tavern on the South Side of Chicago. The name "Home Run Inn" was inspired by a baseball that crashed through the tavern's window, a memorable event that led to the establishment's unique name.

In the early 1940s, Mary and her son-in-law, Nick Perrino, introduced thin-crust pizza to their patrons, serving it as a complimentary snack alongside drinks. By 1947, they had perfected their iconic Chicago-style pizza recipe, which remains a cornerstone of their offerings today.

Home Run Inn expanded into the frozen pizza market in the 1950s, becoming one of the pioneers in this sector. Their frozen pizzas are now available in over 30 states, with distribution through major retailers such as Walmart, where their products are sold in more than 2,800 stores.
