The Cleveland Foundation, established in 1914 by Frederick Harris Goff, is the world's first community foundation and one of the largest today. It has assets of over $3 billion and annual grants exceeding $130 million.

Its mission is to enhance the lives of all residents of Greater Cleveland by building community endowment, addressing needs through grantmaking, and providing leadership on key community issues.

Partnerships and Program Areas

The foundation partners with donors to improve the lives of residents in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. It manages more than 800 funds representing individuals, families, organizations, and corporations.

Initiatives and Impact

In 2020, the Cleveland Foundation established the Cleveland Black Futures Fund. This fund supports and expands the capacity of Black-led and Black-serving nonprofit organizations.

By August 2023, the fund had distributed over $4.4 million to more than 130 organizations in Northeast Ohio.

The foundation's headquarters are located at 6601 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103.

In 2023, it opened the MidTown Collaboration Center, a community space designed to be enjoyed by the entire community. It is a place where people can plan, work, and celebrate together.

Leadership

The current president and chief executive officer is Lillian Kuri, who was appointed in May 2023.
