Other

Audacy, Inc. is a leading American broadcasting company headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Established in 1968, Audacy has grown to become the second-largest radio company in the United States. It owns over 220 radio stations across 47 media markets.

In 2017, Audacy expanded its reach through a merger with CBS Radio, significantly enhancing its presence in major markets. This strategic move diversified its offerings and strengthened its position in the competitive audio entertainment industry.

In March 2021, Audacy unified its diverse audio products under a single brand to better compete with consolidated brands. The RADIO.COM app was rebranded into the Audacy app, centralizing its radio and podcast content.

Portfolio and Content

The company's portfolio includes a wide range of audio content such as music, news, sports, and talk radio. Audacy operates over 235 local radio stations across the United States with diverse programming.

Audacy has also expanded into podcasting by acquiring companies like Cadence13, Pineapple Street Media, and Podcorn. It operates one of the largest podcast platforms in the country with over 3,000 podcasts and more than 30 million monthly unique listeners.

Audacy Sports

In April 2024, Audacy launched Audacy Sports, a dedicated vertical for its all-sports content, featuring:

  • 40 owned-and-operated all-sports stations and affiliates
  • 160 sports streaming channels on the Audacy app
  • The number one sports podcast network with over 600 titles and live events

Audacy Sports is the official audio and podcast partner of Major League Baseball. This partnership grants exclusive access to streaming audio play-by-play in English and Spanish, as well as official league podcasts.

Financial Restructuring

Despite financial challenges including filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2024, Audacy emerged from bankruptcy in September 2024 as a private company. The restructuring significantly reduced its debt and positioned Audacy for long-term growth without major operational disruptions.

Innovation and Partnerships

Audacy demonstrates commitment to innovation through partnerships and technology. In June 2023, Audacy and TuneIn reached a new agreement, restoring access to its stations for TuneIn users after nearly five years.

The company continues to explore new growth avenues and audience engagement strategies, solidifying its position in the audio entertainment industry.
