Job Description
Miss Kim Korean Restaurant, a vibrant part of Zingerman's Community of Businesses, is a celebrated dining destination known for its unique blend of authentic Korean cuisine and modern culinary innovation. Founded and inspired by Chef Ji Hye Kim, a semi-finalist for the prestigious James Beard Award in multiple years, Miss Kim offers a dynamic and welcoming environment dedicated to quality, creativity, and community. Operating in a fast-paced and team-oriented atmosphere, the restaurant is committed to providing exceptional food experiences and excellent service while fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Miss Kim is currently seeking passionate and dedicated full-time Line Cooks to join our energetic kitchen team. This role requires availability for five shifts per week, including at least two shifts on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings. The dinner shifts start at 4 pm and conclude around 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm, while lunch shifts begin between 9 am to 10 am and end by 4 pm or 5 pm. Offering a competitive wage ranging from $23.00 to $25.00 per hour, the compensation package includes a starting wage of $14.00 per hour plus tips ranging from $9 to $11 per hour. An additional wage increase of $0.50 per hour is awarded after successfully completing orientation, typically within 90 days.
Working at Miss Kim means being part of a team that values teamwork, respect, and professional integrity. Line Cooks are essential to our culinary operations, responsible for preparing dishes accurately according to recipes, maintaining station setup, and ensuring all food meets quality and presentation standards. You will work closely with chefs and expo staff to guarantee smooth service and uphold Zingerman's high standards throughout every shift. The role requires calmness under pressure, strong communication skills, and a meticulous approach to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
Joining Miss Kim also presents numerous opportunities to grow and thrive professionally. The restaurant offers comprehensive onboarding with detailed training and a Training Passport to track your progress and development. Miss Kim values employees who are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing their workload effectively while contributing to a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Furthermore, employees benefit from free meals on shifts, paid time off, discounts across all Zingerman's businesses, and access to comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and 401k plans.
Miss Kim embraces a philosophy of pay equity, operating as a one-fair wage restaurant that ensures equal compensation threads through front-of-house and back-of-house positions alike. This equitable approach is part of a broader commitment to employee wellbeing and satisfaction. You will be encouraged to engage actively in building and maintaining standard operating procedures and recipes, contributing to our evolving menu and restaurant practices. Whether you are experienced in Asian cuisine or new to this style of cooking, Miss Kim offers a welcoming environment where training and growth are priorities. We value a professional approach to the kitchen, where high integrity, teamwork, and communication foster a positive and productive atmosphere.
If you are passionate about food, eager to learn, and desire a collaborative and fast-paced environment to grow your culinary career, Miss Kim invites you to apply. Our team is dedicated to supporting each other and fostering a sense of community, making every workday engaging and rewarding. Become part of Miss Kim’s journey as we continue to uphold culinary excellence and transform the dining experience in Ann Arbor and beyond.
