Job Description

Yale University is a prestigious Ivy League institution located in New Haven, Connecticut, known worldwide for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and cultural enrichment. Among its many facilities, the Yale Schwarzman Center stands out as the University's inaugural hub dedicated to dining, student life, and the arts. This dynamic center houses Woolsey Hall, a historic concert venue revered for its architectural grandeur and rich legacy as a cultural landmark. The Schwarzman Center is devoted to creating an inclusive environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and community engagement across a diverse spectrum of students, faculty, and staff.

The Woolsey Hall Production Manager role is a pivotal leadership position within the Schwarzman Center's dedicated production department. Reporting directly to the Director of Production, the incumbent is entrusted with the oversight and management of all production activities within Woolsey Hall. This requires working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting that demands strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to coordinate complex events involving multiple stakeholders. The position is full-time and on-site, requiring regular evening and weekend hours to support a wide range of performances and events.

Key responsibilities include managing daily operations and ensuring the flawless execution of all events while maintaining safety and compliance with university policies and regulatory standards. This role also entails supervising labor resources, overseeing inventory management, coordinating vendor services, and managing the rental process from inquiry to event completion. The Production Manager works closely with internal partners such as the Yale School of Music, Institute of Sacred Music, Yale College Undergraduate Production, and various safety and compliance departments to ensure a seamless production experience.

A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility is central to this role. The candidate will be expected to foster an environment that upholds these values through collaborative efforts that challenge systemic barriers and promote anti-racist practices within the production workflows and organizational culture.

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in music production or a related field, complemented by at least five years of hands-on experience in arts administration, production management, or stage management. A strong understanding of production-related health and safety best practices is essential, alongside proven abilities in managing complex workloads and diverse teams. Experience in event management and live music production is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 to $120,500, reflecting the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Yale University provides a supportive and enriching environment with a focus on personal and professional growth. Prospective candidates will find opportunities to engage with a vibrant community at the forefront of cultural and artistic innovation.

Working at Yale means contributing to a better tomorrow and becoming part of a storied legacy that shapes leaders, artists, and thinkers.
