Job Description
The University is a distinguished Christian religious-affiliated institution committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace. With a firm dedication to equal opportunity employment, the University ensures that all management practices related to employees are conducted in compliance with Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and other pertinent federal and state statutes. This commitment extends across all recruiting, hiring, training, and promotion activities without discrimination based on race, color, ancestry, age, sex, national origin, pregnancy or childbirth, disability, military veteran status, or other protected classifications. The University’s policies emphasize administration based strictly on job requirements, ensuring fair and lawful treatment of all personnel in areas including compensation, benefits, transfers, classifications, assignments, and working conditions.
The University’s athletic department is home to a range of Olympic Sports teams, including field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, soccer, softball, swimming, and volleyball. These teams compete at the collegiate level, requiring comprehensive support and coordination to maintain high standards of athletic excellence and operational efficiency. At the core of this support is the role of the Director of Operations for Women’s Olympic Sports, a key leadership position responsible for coordinating a wide array of administrative and operational functions across these sports programs.
The Director of Operations plays a critical role in the day-to-day functioning of the teams by managing travel arrangements, recruitment logistics, budget planning, event coordination, and operational support. This position requires a highly organized individual capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Under the direction of athletic leadership, the Director serves as a liaison across various university departments, including compliance, marketing, procurement, and dining services, to facilitate smooth operations and enhance support for coaches and athletes.
Key responsibilities include preparing detailed travel itineraries for team trips, coordinating lodging and transportation, managing recruiting visits and official trips, and generating budget reports. The role also involves reconciling university purchasing cards, assisting coaches with travel and operational budgets, and guiding new staff through onboarding processes. Additionally, the Director facilitates pre-season housing arrangements, supports game-day operations, and partners with IT and business relations to meet technology and program needs.
This full-time, onsite position offers a salary range of $42,000 to $48,000, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and relevant certifications. Alongside a competitive salary, the University provides a range of comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance, enhancing the overall compensation package. The role demands strong communication skills, proficiency with computer systems, and a proven ability to analyze and solve problems independently. Candidates must hold a four-year degree in business or a related field and have over five years in a management capacity. A valid Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and liability insurance is also required.
Joining this role means becoming an integral part of a respected institution that values diversity, compliance, and the holistic development of student-athletes. The Director of Operations for Women’s Olympic Sports will contribute to the advancement of the University’s athletic programs by ensuring operational excellence and providing exemplary administrative support, thereby enabling the teams to focus on performance and success both on and off the field.
