The role of Wine and Beer Lead at Healthy Living is a vital position that supports the Wine & Beer Department, an essential part of the store’s unique appeal. This full-time role, with flexible scheduling including weekend availability, offers a competitive pay range of $20 to $21.72 per hour. The Wine and Beer Lead is responsible for the behind-the-scenes operations that keep the department well-stocked, organized, and engaging for customers. They will lead and mentor the Wine & Beer team, ensuring the highest standards of product knowledge, guest service, and operational efficiency.

As the Wine and Beer Lead, you will take charge of ordering products from both domestic and international vendors, using tools such as HL software and auto-order systems to maintain balanced inventory levels and adhere to budgetary constraints. You will also be tasked with merchandising and maintaining the department’s cleanliness and safety standards, contributing to a welcoming shopping environment. Your role extends beyond inventory to include weekly shrink and credit reporting, vendor communications, and ensuring that the department aligns with Healthy Living’s merchandising directives.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years retail experience
  • experience with inventory management and ordering systems
  • ability to work flexible schedule including weekends
  • strong interpersonal and leadership abilities
  • excellent organizational skills
  • knowledge of wine and beer products
  • commitment to company’s core values and essential behaviors

  • ability to train and motivate staff

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2 years working in a professional retail environment, preferably in the grocery or natural foods industry
  • previous buying, inventory management or equivalent experience
  • at least 1 year experience working with both international and domestic wine and beer
  • strong communication and leadership skills
  • proficiency with inventory and order management software
  • knowledge of wine and beer products and pairings
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends

Job Duties

  • Lead the Wine and Beer team, ensuring a collaborative, positive and high performing environment
  • train, mentor and motivate wine and beer staff
  • maintain an in-depth knowledge of department products, standards, procedures and protocols
  • exemplify the highest standards of courteous, professional guest service
  • provide guidance and direction to ensure appropriate shelf stock and back stock conditions, cleanliness and safety standards
  • complete replenishment ordering for all vendors in designated departments and/or categories
  • maintain accuracy of inventory and cycle counts
  • maintain strong vendor relationships and communication
  • monitor inventory and maintain appropriate shelf and backstock levels
  • complete all shrink reporting responsibilities weekly
  • complete all credit reporting and follow through on every credit
  • understand and utilize the merchandising directive
