The role of Cook is vital in ensuring the culinary needs of our residents are met with the highest standards of quality and safety. This part-time position involves preparing and serving meals following established menus and recipes while adhering strictly to food handling and safety regulations. You will be responsible for reviewing menus and production guides, preparing nutritionally appropriate meals, and maintaining cleanliness and safety in food preparation areas. The Cook contributes directly to resident satisfaction and health by providing meals that accommodate various dietary needs and preferences. Working every other weekend from 5:30 PM to 2:00 PM, this position offers the opportunity to work within a team-focused culture dedicated to delivering excellent food service and nutrition care. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalency
  • two years cooking experience in a large-scale cooking operation
  • ability to follow safe food handling procedures
  • knowledge of federal, state and local food service regulations
  • ability to work every other weekend from 5:30 PM to 2:00 PM

  • two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation, preferred

Job Duties

  • prepare meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes
  • refer to supervisor or dietitian the need for menu changes
  • review menus, resident census information, production guides and pre-prep sheets to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared
  • prepare food according to safe food handling guidelines per company policy and procedure and state and federal codes and regulations
  • assist with food ordering, storage and preparation as designated by the supervisor
  • prepare food in a timely manner to preserve food quality and serve meal on time
  • maintain standards for food preparation and quality of food service
  • use nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required
  • follow standardized recipes
