Job Description
The Sporting Chance Center is a premier sports complex located at the intersection of River and La Cholla. This facility is renowned for its comprehensive amenities catering primarily to youth basketball and volleyball activities including leagues, camps, and tournaments, while also supporting adult sports events. The Center is designed to accommodate a large volume of visitors, especially during weekends when major events bring significant crowds. The Sporting Chance Center thrives on its commitment to providing an exceptional sports and community experience, making it a hub for athletes, families, and sports enthusiasts alike.
An integral part of the Center's offerings is the Sporting Chance Center Café. Unlike a traditional full-service kitchen, the Café focuses on offering convenient, high-quality refreshments tailored to the needs of its active patrons. The Café menu includes bottled beverages such as Gatorade, water, and juices, deliberately excluding soda to maintain a healthier selection. In addition, customers can enjoy prepackaged food items like sandwiches, fruit cups, and snacks that balance taste with convenience. For those seeking freshly prepared options, the Café also serves select cooked-to-order items including pizza, bagels, and pretzels.
The role of the Café Operator is pivotal in ensuring smooth and efficient operations during the busiest periods, primarily on weekends. This position requires a dedication to being physically present at the Center on most Saturdays and some Sundays. The operator is responsible for managing all café activities during peak times, including monitoring inventory levels and coordinating weekly orders of food, beverages and supplies. This role is highly dynamic, involving not only daily operational responsibilities but also the opportunity to suggest and implement innovative improvements to the Café experience.
Moreover, being a key member of the Sporting Chance Center team, the Café Operator will be cross-trained in a variety of Center operations and expected to assist with general facility duties as needed. This cooperative approach ensures all team members contribute to the overall success and smooth functioning of the Center. This position requires someone who is hands-on, enthusiastic about working in a team setting, and committed to delivering high standards of service and cleanliness in the Café area. With a focus on attention to detail, inventory accuracy, and customer interaction, this role offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for individuals who thrive in a busy, energetic environment.
