The Warehouse Optimization Leader role at Schweid & Sons is a pivotal position tasked with managing and enhancing the efficiency of warehouse operations within a food warehouse environment. This position involves overseeing two shifts responsible for inventory management, maintaining operational efficiency, and supervising a diverse team of warehouse staff. The leader will ensure all safety protocols and company core values are upheld while meeting customer expectations through accurate, timely shipments of fresh and frozen finished goods. This role focuses on continuous process improvement to optimize loading accuracy, reduce load times, and increase overall customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of warehouse activities such as receiving, storing, and distributing food products. The Warehouse Optimization Leader will analyze and improve the layout of shipping, receiving, and cooler areas to enhance material and process flow. Collaboration with the Supply Chain Director, Operation Leadership, and Customer Service Manager is essential to accurately and promptly fulfill customer orders. Inventory management procedures will be developed and implemented to ensure accuracy and minimize shrinkage, with special attention given to monitoring and addressing the risk of aging inventory. The leader will also be responsible for maintaining budget controls concerning labor and expenses while ensuring warehouse equipment maintenance standards are met.

Safety remains a top priority; the Warehouse Optimization Leader will monitor adherence to health and safety regulations, oversee OSHA compliance, and address any identified hazards promptly. The role entails maintaining cleanliness and organization within all warehouse areas and developing staff training programs aimed at improving team productivity and efficiency. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to foster positive relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders, and the leader will also be tasked with implementing quality control procedures to maintain compliance with food handling and storage standards. Additionally, the role involves cost-saving initiatives and effective management of warehouse personnel, including hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

The working environment is fast-paced and refrigerated, requiring the ability to work flexible shifts and occasionally outside normal business hours. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, climbing, and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and jack equipment.
