Job Description

This job opening is for a high-level Operations position within a dynamic warehousing and distribution company, specializing in the management of inbound and outbound warehouse operations. The company is committed to excellence in logistics and supply chain management, providing its clients with timely and efficient product handling services. The organization is recognized for upholding strict compliance with government regulations and industry standards, ensuring both safety and precision in managing its expansive warehouse activities. As an operations management entity, the company focuses on optimizing processes involved in product receiving, replenishment, order selection, and order loading, facilitating a seamless flow of goods through the supply chain. It prides itself on the use of modern warehouse technologies and efficient labor management techniques to sustain a top-tier operational environment.

The role calls for an Operations professional who will be directly responsible for directing all activities associated with the inbound and outbound processing within the warehouse environment. The position entails supervising warehouse staff including managers and supervisors, managing labor hours, labor costs, supply budgets, and ensuring operational tasks are completed within set financial constraints. Key responsibilities include overseeing compliance adherence to safety laws and regulations such as OSHA, FDA, USDA, and food safety standards like Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). The role also demands collaboration with other departments and external vendors to support and enhance warehouse operations. This includes maintaining effective business relationships and ensuring all vendor agreements and insurances are current and meet company standards.

The successful candidate will have a crucial role in monitoring, auditing, and improving the efficiency of shipping, loading, product handling, and storage practices to minimize potential losses. Budget preparation, financial planning, and capital request management are part of the strategic responsibilities. The candidate will be expected to drive performance expectations through evaluating operational metrics, suggesting cost-saving improvements, and implementing strategies to enhance warehouse productivity. There is a strong emphasis on leadership skills to maintain associate relations through communications, meetings, training, and enforcement of company policies, ensuring high morale and engagement amongst all staff.

Aside from managing daily operations, the role involves active involvement in safety protocols by coordinating training, incident investigations, and performing routine safety inspections to foster a secure workplace. The role encompasses personnel management responsibilities such as hiring, training, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and terminating as necessary. The ideal candidate will be adept at multi-tasking, problem-solving, and making independent decisions that align with organizational policies and goals. This position demands regular interaction with multiple levels of stakeholders, promoting a cooperative atmosphere across various departments and external parties. Candidates will work in a demanding, physically active environment, requiring resilience to operate in diverse environmental conditions, including varying temperatures and noise levels. Working hours may extend beyond traditional business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential travel to other company locations for training or operational continuity. This Operations role is instrumental in the continuous success and growth of the warehouse operations and offers an opportunity for a professional readiness to lead in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
