The role of Food Production Cook at H-E-B is essential in delivering superior fast, fresh, and friendly customer service in a dynamic and fast-paced restaurant environment. The Food Production Cook is responsible for prepping ingredients, assisting in multiple cooking venues, and maintaining departmental and food safety or sanitation standards. This position requires someone who can execute high-volume food production while upholding the quality standards and procedures established by H-E-B. The Food Production Cook will cut, slice, dice, and chop food items according to recipe specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Additionally, this role involves prepackaging condiments to accompany prepared foods, ensuring all food preparation areas are clean and compliant with food safety regulations, and assisting in technical cooking areas or catering orders when needed.
The candidate will be expected to handle equipment properly, maintain temperature integrity of products and ingredients, and contribute as a team player to promote a safe and productive environment. Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Culinary knowledge required
- Ability to execute high-volume production
- Ability to keep open availability for rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Reading and writing skills
- Experience in food preparation and equipment preferred
- Culinary certification or equivalent culinary training or work experience preferred
- Ability to stand constantly, reach at waist level, grasp
- Ability to frequently be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic materials
- Ability to occasionally perform physical actions such as walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs, push and pull
- Ability to lift 55 lbs and manage in excess of 80 lbs with team lift
- Function in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work extended hours or rotating schedules

Job Duties
- Cut, slice, dice, chop food for recipe preparation according to specifications and SOPs
- Prepackage condiments for prepared food items
- Complete tasks at assigned work station
- Assist in multiple cooking venues
- Assist in technical areas and with catering orders as needed
- Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Properly handle and maintain temperature integrity of ingredients, product, and equipment
- Maintain sanitation in food preparation areas
- Properly handle, operate, and maintain equipment
