The Vice President of Operations In-Training (VPO-IT) role at US Foods plays a pivotal role in the supply chain function, primarily focused on supporting the Vice President of Operations in creating a productive and engaging employee experience in the Distribution Center. This training position prepares the candidate to step into a full Vice President role upon successful completion, through developing skills in leading operational functions, managing multiple teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The VPO-IT collaborates with cross-functional leaders to uphold safety, quality standards, cost efficiency, and customer service excellence. The position requires a strategic thinker who demonstrates broad business acumen, courageous leadership, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels. This role is an onsite leadership position with responsibility for managing warehouse and transportation teams that support a wide employee base ranging from 40 to 485 individuals.

The VPO-IT will actively participate in executing market plans, driving team success, and fostering a safety-first culture emphasizing employee well-being. Key responsibilities include leading operational and financial results aligned with customer priorities, supporting the development of a highly engaged and skilled workforce, and promoting a mindset of standardization and continuous improvement. The candidate should possess substantial previous experience in operations within warehouse and transportation settings, including managing people and navigating complex matrixed, union, and transformational environments. Strong leadership qualities such as change management, coaching, financial acumen, and effective communication are critical to success in this role. The position offers a competitive base salary range from $140,000 to $220,000 depending on experience and qualifications and includes performance-based incentive compensation.
