Community Food Share is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger and food insecurity in the Boulder and Broomfield Counties community. The role of Volunteer Coordinator at Community Food Share is integral to the organization’s operations and mission. This position supports the Volunteer Manager by orchestrating all volunteer functions within the organization, ensuring that volunteer efforts effectively bolster food distribution programs and organizational operations. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, tracking, supervising, and reporting on volunteer activities, acting as a key liaison between volunteers and staff. This role requires someone flexible with their schedule, as the position demands open availability Monday through Friday with potential evening hours and occasional Saturdays. The coordinator is expected to work physically demanding shifts predominantly in a warehouse setting, managing dynamic volunteer teams including individuals, families, corporations, schools, and community groups. They play a leadership role in volunteer orientation, safety training, conflict resolution, and volunteer recognition events. Additionally, the Volunteer Coordinator is involved in outreach activities that promote Community Food Share’s mission and engages with various internal departments to coordinate volunteer needs. The role also includes responsibilities related to data management, reporting, and assisting with content creation for newsletters. Compensation for this position starts at $23.00 to $26.00 per hour and includes a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • One to three years' nonprofit or social enterprise experience
  • Valid Colorado Drivers' license or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to complete ServSafe food handling training within six months
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to stand and walk on cement floors for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repetitively
  • Open availability Monday through Friday with some weekend flexibility
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, and conflict management
  • Tech proficiency including Microsoft Office and database management
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment
  • Commitment to Community Food Share’s mission
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, education, social work, business, management, or related field preferred
  • One to three years' experience or training in nonprofit or social enterprise environment preferred
  • Experience providing high-level customer service
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred
  • Valid Colorado Drivers' license or ability to obtain one with good driving record
  • Ability to use technology and computers effectively
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Competent data entry and database management skills
  • Ability to understand warehousing logistics
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Volunteer Hub preferred
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment
  • Knowledge of OSHA, AIB, Feeding America, and Community Food Share safety rules
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure

Job Duties

  • Assist in determining volunteer needs daily and coordinate with operations and volunteer teams
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong communication
  • Train and lead volunteers including individual, family, corporate, community and school groups
  • Assist in scheduling volunteers and maintain weekly schedules while checking for gaps and cancellations
  • Supervise volunteers and coordinate assignments to ensure efficient workflow in the warehouse
  • Evaluate volunteer performance and provide coaching and mentorship
  • Promote Community Food Share's mission during volunteer activities and outreach events
