Job Description

Providence Care is a compassionate and mission-driven healthcare organization dedicated to providing exceptional hospice care to patients and families facing serious illness. With a strong commitment to living every moment with dignity, respect, and compassion, Providence Care empowers its staff and volunteers to enrich the lives of those they serve. As a respected leader in hospice and palliative care, Providence Care integrates community engagement, interdisciplinary teamwork, and patient-centered services to ensure holistic support throughout the end-of-life journey. The organization’s emphasis on volunteer involvement underscores the power of community connection and compassionate care, making it a vital part of their comprehensive hospice program.

The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at Providence Care plays a pivotal role in sustaining and growing the organization’s volunteer program. This role is uniquely positioned to recruit, train, manage, and support volunteers who are essential to delivering quality hospice services. The coordinator will be a key member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to align volunteer support with patient care plans. The position requires a highly organized, empathetic individual who thrives in community outreach, relationship-building, and program development. By leading volunteer efforts—from recruitment through recognition—the coordinator ensures that patients and families receive personalized and compassionate support, whether through direct patient interactions or administrative assistance.

The coordinator’s responsibilities span full lifecycle volunteer management, including developing recruitment strategies, conducting interviews and screenings, coordinating training, matching volunteers to patient needs, providing ongoing supervision, and managing volunteer schedules and recognitions. Additionally, the coordinator will maintain detailed documentation and compliance with hospice regulations while participating in quality improvement activities. This role frequently involves interaction with patients, families, volunteers, and various community groups, making excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential. Providence Care seeks candidates with a background in social work, psychology, counseling, communications, or a related field, coupled with experience in volunteer management, community outreach, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors.

Joining Providence Care as a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator offers the rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families. The role balances administrative acumen with compassionate leadership, promoting a supportive culture where volunteers feel valued and empowered. Working conditions include office settings, patient homes, assisted living, and skilled nursing facilities, with regular local travel and occasional evening or weekend community events. Providence Care values diversity and inclusion and encourages applicants who share their mission and passion to apply. This position provides not only competitive compensation and benefits but also opportunities for professional growth, community engagement, and the fulfillment of leading a program that brings comfort and support during end-of-life care.
