Job Description
Northwood Oaks Veterinary Hospital is a respected veterinary practice located in Gainesville, Florida, dedicated to delivering outstanding veterinary medicine and exceptional client service. Our hospital is known for its supportive, collaborative, and team-oriented culture where every employee is valued and encouraged to contribute to a positive workplace environment. As a busy, fast-paced practice, every day brings new and different challenges, giving our staff the opportunity to grow their skills and expand their veterinary knowledge through continuous learning and cross-training. Leadership at Northwood Oaks places a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, and professional growth, creating a motivating environment where veterinary professionals can thrive and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families.
We are currently hiring a full-time Veterinary Receptionist who will be the first point of contact for our clients and their pets. This role is critical in ensuring that every client feels welcomed, respected, and cared for from the moment they enter our hospital. Working Monday through Saturday with 1-2 days off weekly, scheduling involves shifts that vary between early mornings and evenings with Saturday mornings off. The hourly wage ranges from $17.00 to $21.00, commensurate with experience.
The Veterinary Receptionist's primary responsibilities include managing appointment schedules, checking clients and pets in and out, handling a multi-line phone system, answering inquiries about appointments, medications, and general pet care, and processing payments with accuracy. While the position is predominantly front desk-oriented, it also offers opportunities to support our medical team directly by assisting with basic exam room duties. This can include bringing patients into exam rooms, recording medical histories and vital signs, restraining pets safely during exams, preparing vaccines, assisting with laboratory work, and maintaining clean, organized exam environments.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about animals and customer service, who thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to providing exceptional care and building lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues. Northwood Oaks Veterinary Hospital fosters a work culture where employees are empowered to be their authentic selves and excel in their careers. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values here, as we believe a diverse workforce enriches our ability to serve our community and enhance the care we provide.
In addition to a rewarding day-to-day work experience, our Veterinary Receptionists at Northwood Oaks benefit from a flexible compensation approach reflective of their skills and performance, comprehensive wellness benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, supplemental insurance options, and financial benefits such as 401(k) matching, tuition support, and a referral bonus program. Our workplace benefits include quarterly team rewards bonuses, professional development and continuing education allowances, and a uniform allowance, ensuring our team members have the tools they need to succeed. Lifestyle benefits feature paid holidays, employee assistance, and discount programs including pet-related discounts, emphasizing our holistic approach to employee well-being. Join us to start a fulfilling career where you can genuinely make a difference every day, helping pets and the people who love them while growing professionally within a compassionate, family-oriented environment.
