Job Description
Central Oregon Animal Hospital is a small animal, multi-doctor veterinary practice located in Bend, Oregon. This well-established and trusted practice is known for its compassionate care and talented team of veterinarians and support staff dedicated to providing exceptional veterinary services to pets and their owners. As a community-focused animal hospital, they pride themselves on fostering a friendly and supportive environment where quality pet care and client satisfaction are top priorities. The clinic is equipped to handle a variety of medical needs for small animals and continuously strives to optimize patient care through efficient scheduling and advanced veterinary practices.
This full-time Veterinary Receptionist/Client Service Representative role offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced veterinary environment. The position requires a self-motivated and compassionate individual who thrives in delivering high-quality service and excellent customer care while managing multiple priorities efficiently. The work schedule consists of 10-hour days, 3-4 days per week, including rotating Saturdays, providing a work-life balance that supports personal and professional growth. Compensation ranges from $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating smooth operations within the hospital by performing diverse responsibilities related to customer service, scheduling, accounting, and client communication. Duties include managing appointment bookings with attention to pet needs, verifying all client services, maintaining accurate daily, weekly, and monthly veterinarian schedules, and providing clear communication regarding pricing and visit details. The role also includes financial responsibilities such as posting daily transactions, managing invoices, collecting payments including past-due accounts, and conducting end-of-day financial reconciliations.
Success in this role demands the ability to withstand common challenges of a veterinary setting, such as unpleasant odors, animal noises, and occasional exposure to bites or scratches. The receptionist must embody professionalism and warmth by greeting clients courteously, ensuring smooth clinic flow, and adhering strictly to hospital policies regarding conduct, uniform standards, punctuality, and teamwork. Additional duties include assisting new team members and supporting overall hospital operations to enhance efficiency. This is a critical front-line position that helps ensure clients feel welcomed and informed while supporting veterinarians and technical staff to focus on providing outstanding medical care for the animals.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to prioritize tasks effectively during busy shifts that may exceed 10 hours. The position requires physical stamina, including the ability to frequently move around the facility and lift objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, or heavier items with help. Prior experience in a veterinary environment is preferred, especially for those familiar with veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and computer systems. Typing skills of 45+ words per minute are also advantageous. Overall, this role is perfect for candidates seeking meaningful work in a supportive veterinary team with opportunities to contribute positively to client experiences and pet health outcomes.
