Job Description
The Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) stands as Northern Nevada's premier destination marketing organization, dedicated to showcasing the unique vibrancy, natural beauty, and cultural richness of Reno, Sparks, and the Tahoe region. With an unwavering commitment to strategic tourism development, the RSCVA plays a critical role in driving economic growth and strengthening the community by attracting visitors from around the globe. The authority operates three major facilities: the Reno Sparks Convention Center, the Reno Sparks Events Center, and the National Bowling Stadium, each serving a diverse range of events that contribute to the dynamic local culture and economy.
Joining the RSCVA means becoming part of a Certified Amazing Workplace, an organization celebrated for its collaborative, innovative, and supportive environment. RSCVA's team members enjoy a culture that promotes professional growth, creativity, and mutual respect. As a vital player in the tourism and events industry, the RSCVA invests in its employees, offering comprehensive benefits and opportunities for meaningful impact. This commitment to excellence ensures that staff members thrive while helping to create memorable experiences for all visitors to the region.
The Venue Events Production Manager role at RSCVA is a cornerstone position responsible for the seamless operation, maintenance, and reliability of audio, video, lighting, staging, and technical systems across all three of RSCVA's facilities. This role demands a hands-on leader tasked with overseeing event technical planning, equipment setup and strike, temporary power distribution, and client IT services. Beyond technical expertise, the position includes the critical responsibility of managing and developing a skilled team of AV Technicians, Stagehands, and Riggers, ensuring that each event runs smoothly and safely.
Serving as the primary onsite technical contact for events, the Venue Events Production Manager ensures all safety standards are met, represents the venues as an Event Manager during select shows, and continuously innovates operational procedures to elevate event quality. The manager's role extends to coordinating with clients and event promoters to meet diverse technical needs, maintaining robust back-of-house operations, and enforcing rigorous safety compliance including fall protection and rigging practices.
With an emphasis on leadership, the Venue Events Production Manager acts as a mentor and coach, fostering a motivated and competent workforce. This position requires a balance of technical acumen and administrative skills, including budget management, personnel supervision, and adherence to organizational policies. The manager is also responsible for labor reporting, event settlement processes, and maintaining constructive relationships with entertainment and cultural organizations.
This is a full-time position offering a competitive benefits package, including employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance for employees, partial coverage for dependents, and enrollment in the Public Employees Retirement System of Nevada. Paid vacation, sick time, holidays, and additional voluntary insurance programs are also part of the comprehensive support provided to ensure employee well-being. Working conditions can include indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to various physical demands and safety-sensitive tasks, making this role ideal for a dedicated professional ready to engage with a fast-paced and rewarding venue management setting.
