Currently, SSP America is hiring Utility Workers to join their team at restaurants located inside General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards essential for providing a positive guest experience. Utility Workers play a vital role in ensuring that all restaurant and food service areas are hygienic, organized, and fully operational. The Utility Worker’s responsibilities encompass a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties, including sanitizing work areas and equipment, removing refuse, resetting dining tables, washing dishes, and handling food-related stock management tasks. This role requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced food service environment, ensuring compliance with sanitary standards by using specific chemicals and cleaning equipment. The role also involves interacting with guests to accommodate special requests and communicating effectively with supervisors and team members.

Candidates for this position must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of six months’ experience in a food service environment. While a high school diploma is preferred, essential skills include strong verbal and written communication, the ability to understand and speak English fluently, and experience in guest service problem resolution. Physical stamina is necessary as the job requires standing for long periods and working in confined spaces.

Job Duties

  • Create a positive guest experience by cleaning and maintaining hygienic work areas
  • maintain the cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment such as floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage areas
  • remove refuse to designated areas
  • clear and reset tables in dining areas between seatings and transport service-ware to the kitchen for cleaning
  • scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash them by hand or load dishwasher and return them to their proper storage place
  • clean equipment using specific chemicals to meet sanitary standards, possibly including heavy equipment
  • assist all guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to server or supervisor
  • load and unload supply trucks transferring between storage and work areas
  • stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of food items
  • perform other duties as assigned
