The Utility Worker position at Sodexo, located in the Alaska Airlines Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), offers a full-time employment opportunity with a pay rate of $25 per hour. This role involves supporting kitchen and facility operations by maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout food production and service areas. As a Utility Worker, your responsibilities will include cleaning and maintaining equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces. You will also be responsible for transporting and storing supplies and assisting with basic setup and break-down tasks as directed by supervisors.

This essential role requires a strong focus on sanitation standards to ensure safe and efficient operations within the food service environment. The job includes tasks such as washing dishes by hand or using dishwashing machinery, sanitizing worktables and refrigerators, sweeping and mopping floors, and removing trash to designated areas. The position demands physical stamina, including the ability to walk or stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform other physical activities required to uphold facility hygiene and organization.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • no related work experience required
  • knowledge of sanitation procedures including basic concepts of food safety
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • availability to work varying shifts including days and hours with open availability preferred
  • reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • knowledge of sanitation procedures including basic concepts of food safety
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • physical capability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • strong work ethic with punctuality and reliability

Job Duties

  • Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine
  • cleans and sanitizes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks
  • sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors
  • removes trash and garbage to designated areas
  • cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
  • restocks supplies such as soap, paper towels, and cleaning materials
  • assists with basic set-up and break-down tasks as directed
