Job Description
Sam's Club is a leading membership-only retail warehouse club that provides exceptional value on quality products and services to its members. With a focus on offering a wide variety of goods ranging from fresh foods to electronics, Sam's Club combines the warehouse shopping experience with convenient services and exclusive member benefits. Known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and community engagement, the company empowers its associates to deliver outstanding member experiences every day. Sam's Club values teamwork, innovation, and integrity, creating a workplace culture that prioritizes respect, excellence, and continuous growth. The business operates under Walmart Inc., leveraging Walmart's immense supply chain network and operational expertise to keep prices low while maintaining high standards in product quality and member satisfaction.
The role of a Prepared Foods and Café Department Lead at Sam's Club is a dynamic, leadership-driven position focused on driving sales and supervising a team of hourly associates who work in fresh food preparation and service areas, including the café, rotisserie, and various prepared foods sections. This position entails responsibility for managing day-to-day operations to meet the business plan and overall club goals, ensuring that members receive high-quality food and a pleasant shopping experience. The Department Lead must model expertise in food preparation techniques, inventory management, safety, sanitation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
The position requires strong leadership skills to manage team rotations, coordinate with other departments, and maintain operational excellence that aligns with company and regulatory expectations. Additionally, this role involves training and developing associates to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to consistently deliver quality products. The Department Lead must embrace technological tools and handheld devices to streamline decision-making processes related to production, product quality, and associate engagement.
Further, the role is a key contributor to business success by overseeing staffing levels and audit compliance, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, and collaborating with external partners like suppliers and equipment vendors to ensure smooth operations. The Department Lead serves as a talent ambassador by hiring, mentoring, and fostering career growth among their team members. This position reflects Sam's Club's values by emphasizing respect for individuals, acting with integrity, putting customers and members first, and striving for excellence in all tasks.
Sam's Club supports its associates with competitive pay ranging from $21.00 to $29.00 per hour, along with performance-based bonuses and comprehensive benefits. The benefits package includes health coverage (medical, vision, and dental), financial benefits like 401(k), stock purchase plans, life insurance, paid time off (including parental, family care, bereavement, and jury duty leave), disability insurance, company discounts, and more. Moreover, the company invests in education through Live Better U, which offers paid tuition programs from high school completion to bachelor’s degrees, plus certificates and English language courses. Sam’s Club values the personal and professional growth of its associates by providing ample resources and fostering a positive workplace environment. This employment opportunity at Sam's Club is not only a job but a chance to be part of a respected retail giant that prioritizes associate well-being and career development in a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
