The Unit Secretary at LifeBridge Health plays a crucial role in supporting the Nursing Department by performing receptionist and secretarial duties while serving as a key communication source within the unit. This position ensures that the quality of services delivered by the Nursing Department meets or exceeds the hospital's mission and SPIRIT values. Unit Secretaries are vital in managing administrative tasks, coordinating communication between staff and patients, and assisting with the overall workflow on the healthcare unit. This role requires a professional who is organized, attentive to detail, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The Unit Secretary supports the nursing staff by managing patient information, scheduling, and record-keeping, thereby contributing to a seamless and efficient care environment. Job Requirements

  • Preferred high school diploma
  • Less than 2 years medical terminology preferred
  • Successful completion of medical terminology test or prior clinical or health care experience preferred
  • Medical terminology certificate

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Prior clinical or healthcare experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Perform receptionist duties including greeting patients and visitors
  • Manage incoming calls and direct them to appropriate personnel
  • Coordinate communication between nursing staff, patients, and other departments
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Schedule appointments and update patient information
  • Assist nursing staff with clerical tasks as needed
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
