The Union Assistant Server, also known as the Server Assistant or Busser, is a pivotal role within Hyatt Vacation Ownership's food and beverage team. This position is full-time and seasonal, offering an hourly rate of 17.60 dollars. The role focuses on supporting servers by assisting with guest services throughout the dining experience, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and ensuring a smooth flow of food and beverage service. It requires a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and consistently interacts with customers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
The Union Assistant Server is responsible for several key duties, including pre-bussing, clearing, and resetting tables efficiently throughout shifts to prepare for new guests. This position also involves promptly assisting servers by handling all food and beverage requests, such as running food orders from the kitchen to guests. The role demands attentiveness to detail in setting up stations, maintaining glassware and table setups, and ensuring all service areas are complete and ready before service begins. The Server Assistant must also take on side duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage leadership team, which keeps the workspace orderly and meets Hyatt’s high cleanliness standards.
Successful candidates for this role must demonstrate physical capability, such as the ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight, essential for handling busy dining room demands. Additionally, the position requires adherence to health and safety regulations, including having a valid California Food Handler's Card. The Assistant Server must be able to communicate effectively in English as it is necessary to read, write, and understand workplace communication. Flexibility is key, as employees must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts to accommodate guest needs and staffing schedules.
