The position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) at Penske Truck Leasing is a casual, on-call part-time opportunity perfect for licensed CDL Class B drivers seeking supplemental income and flexible working hours ranging from zero to 25 hours weekly based on business needs. Job Requirements
- Two years of driving experience required
- two years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required
- valid Class B CDL required
- applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
- CDL Class A license preferred
- ability to read and follow written instructions is required
- ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required
- English language proficiency is required for federal compliance
- regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- maintain a current driver qualification file including an annual motor vehicle records check, successfully completed DOT physical, safety performance history records request from prior employers in last 3 years, DOT drug screening within 30 days of start for CDL holders and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
- willingness to travel as necessary
- willingness to work required schedule including evenings and weekends
- ability to work at specific location required
- completion of Penske employment application
- submission to background investigation including past employment, education, and criminal history
- drug screening required
- ability to work safely and maintain alertness as this role is DOT regulated

Job Duties
- Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destination of Penske location or customer locations
- check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, report to location manager if any issues are found
- obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
- report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
