Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, committed to delivering quality products and exceptional service to restaurants, healthcare, hospitality, and other foodservice customers. With a long-standing reputation for reliability and innovation, US Foods prides itself on helping customers "Make It" by providing essential ingredients, tools, and expert guidance to fuel business success across diverse communities. As a prominent player in the foodservice industry, the company emphasizes a culture built on integrity, collaboration, and dedication to excellence. US Foods offers a variety of career opportunities with competitive compensation packages and comprehensive benefits, creating a supportive environment where team members can thrive both professionally and personally.

The US Foods Driver role is an integral position responsible for ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to customers. This job offers competitive pay, with top earners averaging around $45 per hour, and a $5,000 retention bonus for new hires. Drivers operate primarily during the night, with schedules running from Sunday night through Friday, including the occasional Saturday morning return. Candidates can choose between 4 or 5-day workweeks, allowing for flexibility with two or three days off during the week. Typical routes dispatch between 10 pm and 3 am, and drivers must be willing to participate in team routes and layover routes as needed.

The core responsibilities of the driver include safely operating trucks to deliver products efficiently while adhering to scheduled delivery times. Drivers are tasked with unloading products using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, obtaining necessary signatures, and managing collections or payments when applicable. Exceptional customer service is a key aspect of the role, as drivers represent US Foods professionally in all customer interactions. Comprehensive vehicle inspections before and after trips are required to maintain equipment safety and compliance.

Physical stamina is essential, as drivers must regularly lift and move products weighing between 20 and over 80 pounds throughout their shifts. The role also demands comfort with driving and working in various weather conditions, including frequent stops during their routes. Additionally, candidates must comply with federal regulations by registering with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a secure online database for tracking commercial driver’s license holders' drug and alcohol program violations.

US Foods prioritizes creating a rewarding workplace culture where drivers are valued members of the team, contributing to the broader mission of supporting local businesses and communities. Their Total Rewards program respects and recognizes the hard work and dedication of their associates through competitive wages, bonuses, comprehensive health benefits, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, and opportunities for career advancement.

Choosing a career with US Foods as a driver means joining a company dedicated not only to customer satisfaction but also to the personal and professional growth of its employees. This role offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment that emphasizes safety, reliability, and excellent customer service, alongside meaningful compensation and benefits. Candidates with a valid CDL Class A license, previous commercial driving experience, and a commitment to high safety standards will find this position rewarding and fulfilling.
