We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Superintendent with a background in General Contracting to join our self-perform team. The Superintendent will play a critical role in planning, directing, and coordinating commercial construction projects to meet set goals within budget and timelines. This position necessitates strong leadership skills, as the Superintendent will act as the primary liaison between the General Contractor, owners, and internal project teams. Collaboration with a dedicated Design Systems Builders PEMB superintendent ensures smooth crew, subcontractor, and production management. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in managing large, complex projects and have a willingness to travel extensively. This role requires a proactive individual who can establish and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships while overseeing all phases of project execution.

As a Traveling Project Superintendent, your responsibilities will include refining project goals and schedules in alignment with client expectations, assisting design teams on design-build projects by identifying inefficiencies, and maintaining project budgets and timelines. You will actively contribute to project meetings, provide estimating support, review field change orders, and submit requests for information (RFIs) for approval. Open communication between all parties is imperative, and you will ensure adherence to drawings, specifications, and safety protocols. This role also involves documenting hours worked and providing personnel feedback to operational leaders. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • minimum 10 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment, including 5 years as Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent
  • experience managing large commercial construction projects valued at $50 million or more
  • strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • willingness to travel locally and out of state
  • solid math, communication, and technology skills
  • OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain
  • valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • physical ability to work in active indoor and outdoor environments and travel regularly to project sites within a 100-mile radius of Nashville

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • minimum 10 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment with at least 5 years as a Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent
  • experience leading commercial construction projects valued at $50 million or greater
  • exceptional organizational, time management, and decision-making/problem-solving skills
  • strong math, communication, and technology skills
  • OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certifications or ability to obtain
  • valid driver's license with a good driving record and ability to operate a pickup truck

Job Duties

  • Refine project specific and client-driven goals and schedules
  • assist the design team on design-build projects by identifying design inefficiencies and recommending changes
  • establish and maintain project goals and success criteria meeting the client’s needs
  • plan, prioritize, coordinate, and supervise multiple activities for project
  • maintain project budget, schedules, and cost control and update schedule weekly with Project Manager
  • provide estimating assistance to Project Manager as needed
  • communicate weekly project schedule updates to GCs and owners
  • review field change orders prior to submitting to Project Manager
  • submit draft RFIs to Project Manager for approval
  • share leadership with PEMB Superintendent and Project Manager of weekly project meetings with all stakeholders
  • review and address plan details, resolve issues before they result in added budget expenditures
  • maintain continual open communication with GC, client, and PEMB Superintendent to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • maintain awareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, identify safety hazards and implement corrective actions
  • document hours worked and submit to HR/Payroll Coordinator each week
  • provide feedback to Operations leader on subordinates
  • attend GC and client meetings as required
  • perform additional assignments at supervisor's direction
