The Traveling Chef role at Oak View Group is a pivotal position responsible for the effective and profitable operation of food services across varying live event locations. This role demands flexibility as chefs have the option to accept or decline each assignment; however, if accepted, the Traveling Chef is expected to fulfill all required shifts throughout the support period. The chef will take on an active supervisory and leadership role, including coaching, mentoring, and directing kitchen staff to uphold company quality standards. Key responsibilities include managing employee relations to ensure a positive and cooperative work environment, overseeing line and buffet setups, assisting with administrative duties such as food inventory and ordering, and ensuring compliance with all food safety standards. This position requires professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong management and independent decision-making abilities.
The role offers a competitive hourly wage of $35, which includes a per diem to cover expenses such as food, laundry, and entertainment. Additionally, part-time employees gain access to valuable benefits, including a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. The position operates on a variable event-driven schedule necessitating open availability, including evenings and weekends, emphasizing flexibility and commitment to the dynamic nature of live event catering. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in Sous Chef role with supervisory experience
- State issued Health Certificate and immunizations required
- Serve Safe certified
- Ability to work nights, weekends and long hours
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to make fast, repetitive movements
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach
- Ability to speak clearly
- Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must maintain excellent attendance
- Open availability to work variable event-driven schedule
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage teams
