The work culture fosters collaboration, accountability, and innovation to drive continuous success across all functions.\n\nThe Transportation Supervisor position is a vital leadership role within General Produce’s logistics arm focused on overseeing the transportation and delivery teams that uphold the company’s promise of freshness. This full-time role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6:30 PM, providing a balanced workweek. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for supervising routing, dispatching, and drivers to ensure delivery efficiency, productivity, quality, and outstanding service metrics.\n\nIn this role, the supervisor manages employee recruitment, training, performance appraisals, and conflict resolution per company policies and regulatory compliance. A significant aspect of the job involves evaluating transportation routes and operations to enhance efficiency while minimizing costs. The supervisor also plays a crucial role in accident management by conducting thorough investigations and enforcing necessary corrective measures and training. \n\nRegulatory compliance is a key responsibility, with the Transportation Supervisor ensuring that all operations adhere to local and federal laws, including FMCSA, DOT, CARB, IFTA, IRP, UCR, and BIT standards. Furthermore, fleet maintenance oversight ensures vehicles and equipment remain in excellent condition to support reliable and safe transport. The supervisor is also tasked with scheduling drivers considering their licensing classifications and operational requirements. \n\nIdeal candidates are experienced transportation leaders possessing strong knowledge of supply chain management, technology systems such as Samara, WMS, Xata(net), Peoplenet, and DriveCam, as well as proficiency in common Windows applications. They combine innovative problem-solving with effective communication and management skills, enabling the design and implementation of impactful transportation programs. Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in transportation
  • Valid California Class A Driver License
  • Ability to manage and supervise a transportation team effectively
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations
  • Proficient with transportation telematics and software tools
  • Ability to analyze transportation operations and optimize routes
  • Capable of conducting fleet accident investigations
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in transportation
  • Proven track record in the produce industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field experience
  • Maintain a valid California Driver License - Class A
  • Strong management and supervisory skills, including hiring, training, performance management, and conflict resolution
  • Skilled in transportation telematics such as Samara, WMS, and/or similar tools like Xata(net), Peoplenet, and DriveCam
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications and computer research tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain management, budgeting, operations management, inventory control, material handling, and customer service
  • Innovative thinking to design and implement programs
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

Job Duties

  • Supervise routing, dispatch, and drivers to meet productivity, quality, and service metrics
  • Carry out hiring, training, performance management, and conflict resolution in line with company policies and applicable laws
  • Analyze and improve transportation activities, including routes, to maximize efficiency and minimize costs
  • Assist with conducting thorough and objective fleet accident investigations, contribute to root-cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions and training are implemented
  • Schedule drivers weekly, taking their licenses (commercial or noncommercial) into consideration
  • Ensure all operations meet legal requirements, including FMCSA, DOT, CARB, IFTA, IRP, UCR, BIT, and other applicable regulations
  • Ensure proper maintenance of trucks, tractors, trailers, and other equipment
