The company thrives on innovation, safety, and operational excellence while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
This position is for a Transportation Supervisor role within US Foods’ Transportation department. The Transportation Supervisor plays a vital role in overseeing and developing drivers and transportation associates, ensuring all team members adhere to safety, legal, and company standards. They will lead with a safety-first mindset, championing procedures, training, and cultural accountability to maintain an injury-free environment for associates, customers, and the public. The supervisor will be responsible for managing workforce performance by coaching, addressing gaps, and driving engagement and retention through effective leadership and communication. This role requires hands-on supervision, including scheduling shifts, monitoring production accuracy, problem-solving delivery challenges, and managing compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other industry standards.
The Transportation Supervisor will foster a culture aligned with US Foods corporate values by building high-performing teams, participating in hiring, delivering disciplinary measures, and encouraging upward communication. They will also conduct routine safety and driver meetings, oversee driver qualification files, and investigate accidents to implement preventive actions. The position accommodates a variety of administrative and operational responsibilities, including leveraging tools like Microsoft Excel for planning and scheduling, tracking operational data, and driving continuous improvement by identifying waste and enhancing process efficiency.
This is a full-time, night-shift position that runs from Sunday night through Friday morning, requiring about 10% travel for mandatory meetings or training events. Candidates should be comfortable working in an office environment and interacting daily with shuttle and delivery drivers to ensure smooth operations. Educationally, a high school diploma or GED is required, though a college degree is preferred. Candidates should have significant experience in transportation or warehouse distribution and at least one year of workforce supervisory experience. Experience as a driver is considered an advantage.
The role offers an annual incentive plan bonus along with a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. By joining US Foods as a Transportation Supervisor, candidates will play an essential role in maintaining operational excellence, safety, and a supportive workplace culture in a dynamic and growing company.
