The organization invests significantly in its employees, aiming to create an inclusive and supportive working environment that encourages growth and development.
The role of the Manager, Transportation at US Foods is pivotal to the company's operational success. This position focuses on leading the Transportation department with a strong emphasis on safety, service quality, and cost efficiency. The manager is responsible for ensuring that all drivers and associates within the transportation team are engaged, well-trained, and operating in compliance with safety regulations. This leadership role demands a proactive approach to managing daily outbound shipments, troubleshooting delivery issues, and maintaining productive and motivated teams.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $115,000, depending on experience and qualifications. It includes potential incentive compensation and a robust benefits package comprising health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and more. Key responsibilities include supervising and developing drivers and transportation associates, ensuring adherence to DOT regulations, managing driver qualification files, and overseeing accident investigations. The manager is also tasked with scheduling shifts, monitoring production goals, and driving operational excellence through cost-effective and legally compliant solutions. This role requires collaboration with internal departments such as sales and warehouse leadership, enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
In addition, the Manager, Transportation will need to spend a portion of time on the road and in trucks with drivers, necessitating a readiness to be exposed to higher noise and vibration levels. Frequent use of office computers and planning tools like Microsoft Excel is expected to ensure effective shift scheduling and data management. This position requires at least three years of experience in transportation, delivery or warehouse distribution, and a minimum of one year in a supervisory role. Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and a strong grasp of financial and operational data interpretation are essential.
