Focusing on people, process, and innovation, US Foods has built a reputation as a trusted partner in the industry, constantly evolving to meet changing market demands and regulatory requirements.
The Manager, Transportation role at US Foods is a critical leadership position tasked with overseeing the Transportation department's operations to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective outbound shipments. In managing the transportation operations, the role requires strong knowledge of logistics, transportation regulations such as DOT requirements, and the ability to analyze and resolve delivery and operational issues promptly. The manager is responsible for employee engagement, recruitment, performance management including coaching and disciplinary actions, and promoting open communication to foster a collaborative work environment. Handling various administrative duties such as scheduling, safety meetings, accident investigations, and maintenance of driver qualification files is also within the scope of responsibility. The role may involve significant time spent both on the road and in the office, requiring adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
This position requires a minimum of three years of experience in transportation, delivery, or warehouse distribution, along with at least one year of supervising workforce experience. Knowledge in safety, regulatory compliance, and people management are essential. The expected salary range for this role is between $65,000 and $105,000, depending on experience and location. Additionally, this role may be eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus, reinforcing the company's commitment to rewarding performance excellence.
US Foods offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, pre-tax spending accounts, disability coverage, and an employee stock purchase plan. Basic computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office, are required to effectively manage transportation operations and reporting.
Working at US Foods as a Manager, Transportation provides the opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a dynamic environment where safety, service, and operational efficiency are paramount. This role is ideal for a leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills who is passionate about building a culture of safety and driving excellence across transportation functions in a large-scale foodservice distribution organization.
