We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Culinary Services to join our team. This pivotal role encompasses the responsibility of developing and implementing a comprehensive, professional, and upscale culinary services program designed to deliver a positive and memorable dining experience for all customers. The Director of Culinary Services will spearhead staff development efforts, including training and retention strategies to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively. The role requires expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring compliance with nutritional and dietary standards dictated by local regulations and internal policies. The successful candidate will be accountable for maintaining budgetary controls, managing financial resources prudently, and upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization within the culinary department.
The Director will also oversee the presentation, quality, and appearance of food offerings, conduct periodic evaluations by visiting residents to solicit feedback on food service quality, and continually refine operational practices to enhance service delivery. Working closely with approved purveyors and vendors, the Director ensures procurement aligns with financial and quality expectations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum five years experience as executive chef or similar
- minimum three years experience managing food service systems
- culinary degree preferred
- senior living experience preferred
- current state-required Safe Food Handling or Certified Food Manager certification or license
- proficient in Microsoft Office
- strong oral and written communication skills
- ability to develop and implement staff training and retention programs
- knowledge of health and nutrition policies
- understanding of OSHA and local health regulations
- capability to meet budgets and control costs
- demonstrated leadership and conflict resolution skills
- ability to create innovative menus and manage production
- physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- culinary degree preferred
- minimum five years experience as executive chef or similar role
- minimum three years experience in administration and management of food service systems
- senior living community experience preferred
- ability to speak, read and comprehend English
- knowledge of menu planning, food preparation and production
- ability to stay current with health and nutrition trends
- knowledge of local health department, OSHA and regulatory agencies
- knowledge of management, marketing, finance and accounting
- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- strong communication skills
- demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

- must hold current state-required sanitation certification or license
Job Duties
- Develops and implement a comprehensive culinary services program
