Job Description
Visit Gainesville, Alachua County is a dynamic and award-winning organization dedicated to promoting one of Florida's most exciting travel destinations. Focused on enhancing tourism and visitor experiences, Visit Gainesville works closely with local businesses, government agencies, and community stakeholders to showcase the rich culture, vibrant events, and unique attractions that Alachua County has to offer. As a leading destination marketing organization, the team at Visit Gainesville leverages innovative marketing strategies, cutting-edge design, and compelling storytelling to attract and engage visitors from across the globe. Their mission is centered on boosting tourism economic impact while highlighting the area's natural beauty, historic sites, and lively community events that make Alachua County a must-visit location.
The Tourism Marketing Coordinator role at Visit Gainesville is a highly responsible position that plays a crucial part in shaping the visual identity and voice of the destination. This role is designed for a creative professional who possesses advanced graphic design skills and a strategic marketing mindset. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a wide range of design projects including logo creation, multi-page booklets, brochures, and both print and digital advertising campaigns. Adept at producing original and engaging social media content, the Tourism Marketing Coordinator will actively contribute to maintaining and growing the social media presence by creating eye-catching reels and posts that capture the attention of followers and potential visitors. Expertise in WordPress is essential for managing and building effective web pages that support integrated marketing efforts.
The coordinator is expected to be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, allowing for the production of high-quality visual assets that elevate Alachua County's destination brand. The role requires mastery in writing and editing compelling content across multiple platforms, ensuring that messaging is clear, consistent, and persuasive. Understanding of integrated marketing principles and the ability to track and analyze campaign performance are critical for optimizing tourism marketing strategies. Collaboration is key in this fast-paced, creative environment as the coordinator will work alongside advertising, public relations, social media, and content teams to produce cohesive and effective marketing initiatives.
Supporting the County's tourist development program objectives, this position also involves project management and communications responsibilities. Duties include designing materials to promote tourism, coordinating with third-party vendors for video and photography production, and staying current on industry trends to infuse innovative ideas into ongoing campaigns. The Tourism Marketing Coordinator also manages the organization’s editorial and publishing calendars, assists with media pitches and editorial submissions, and maintains an organized digital library of video and photo assets with appropriate rights releases.
This position demands a high level of professionalism and a proactive attitude, including the ability to independently handle multiple projects under tight deadlines. As an emergency-essential classification, the coordinator is required to work during declared disasters or emergencies, underscoring the position's importance to the County's operations. A valid Florida Driver License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record are prerequisites due to travel requirements within the County using personal or County vehicles. This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to join a mission-driven team dedicated to showcasing "What's Good" in Alachua County through innovative and impactful tourism marketing efforts.
