The Equipment Repair Technician (SETS) role at Penske Truck Leasing is a unique and exciting opportunity designed for individuals passionate about heavy-duty shop equipment and tools. This entry-level position operates on a schedule of 10-hour shifts across 4 days a week, primarily Monday through Friday, and offers a pay range from $62,700 to $79,900 annually. The role plays a critical part in the ongoing success of Penske's maintenance operations by supporting the upkeep and repair of key shop equipment and tooling across multiple service locations.
As an Equipment Repair Technician, your responsibilities include conducting detailed inspections, preventive maintenance, and light repairs to ensure the optimal functionality of shop tools and equipment. The position involves driving a Shop Equipment & Tooling Support (SETS) truck across specified geographic areas to visit various Penske service facilities. Interaction with technicians, supervisors, and service managers is a daily component, fostering strong communication and collaboration to maintain equipment standards. Inspections and repairs are recorded digitally, streamlining approval processes, reporting, and inventory management. The role emphasizes process improvement and equipment reliability, directly impacting the efficiency of maintenance operations that support over 400,000 vehicles.
Success in this role requires a blend of technical know-how, organizational skills, and customer service aptitude. Candidates with automotive or heavy-duty technician experience, or those with a strong interest in heavy-duty tools and equipment, are ideal. The position offers a combination of hands-on technical work, travel within a geographical territory, and teamwork within the Tooling and Service Bay Technology group to support continuous improvement in maintenance processes. Penske values candidates who are process-driven and able to listen and respond to diverse perspectives, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.
This role is suitable for candidates who enjoy practical, varied work and who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. It provides a pathway to grow within a company that values excellence, safety, and employee development. The Equipment Repair Technician will experience the satisfaction of contributing to a critical support function that empowers frontline technicians to deliver top-tier service to customers. Penske also offers excellent benefits including health plans and supports a diverse and inclusive workplace. This role requires physical capabilities consistent with the demands of tool and equipment handling alongside safety and operational standards, including the ability to lift heavy items, work at heights, and operate safely in various weather conditions. Those interested in advancing their career in vehicle maintenance and repair with a respected industry leader will find this opportunity rewarding and impactful.
