The part-time Line Cook role at Hilliard Center is a dynamic culinary position focused on preparing high-quality food for guests at the venue. Paying between $12.00 to $18.00 per hour, this position requires culinary skills to prepare hot and cold dishes according to company recipes and portion standards. The Line Cook plays a crucial role in delivering fresh food promptly, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and collaborating effectively with kitchen supervisors including the Executive Chef or Sous Chef to meet food preparation and menu planning needs. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment and provides exposure to handling various kitchen equipment such as broilers, steamers, convection ovens, mixers, and meat slicers.
In addition to the culinary responsibilities, the Line Cook will engage with guests in some service areas like buffet lines and prepared dish stations, requiring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a professional and positive demeanor. The role demands reliability, teamwork, and flexibility to accommodate scheduled events and maintain excellent attendance. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred
- Valid food handling certificate
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and event-driven schedules
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Must comply with health and safety regulations
- Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- Previous cook or prep cook experience preferred
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
- Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Possess a valid food handling certificate
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Provide high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
- Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
- Participate as a team player with specific responsibilities related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
- Report any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
- Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
- Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
- Demonstrate excellent attendance and availability for scheduled events
