The role of General Manager at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, is a full-time, regular position with an annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000, and it includes eligibility for bonuses. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the food service operations, venue management, and sales and revenue growth at the venue, ensuring the operation is efficient, professional, and profitable. Job Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5+ years in food and beverage management

Job Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or higher in Culinary Management, Business Management, or related field
- 3-5+ years experience in Food & Beverage Management or related areas
- Degree may be substituted with equivalent experience
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office, POS, and timekeeping systems
- Experience training employees and volunteers
- Advanced knowledge of inventory procedures and controls
- Experience ordering products for high-volume venues
- Strong communication skills fostering positive work environments
- Ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure
- Team-oriented with ability to work in fast-paced, event-driven settings
- Basic math skills for cash transactions and inventory
- High standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Preferred certifications in food service sanitation and alcohol service training
Job Duties
- Manage, develop, and mentor staff including initiating employee discipline
- Generate and review financial reports such as budgets, projections, and P&L statements
- Coordinate marketing channels including website and social media
- Design and produce graphics and digital content for marketing
- Create and distribute press releases and media content
- Build and maintain strong media and community relationships
- Monitor marketing performance, budgets, and analytics
- Ensure proper event setup including inventory and sanitation standards
- Provide operational expertise for smooth and profitable event execution
- Oversee inventory management and product ordering
- Manage venue operations including scheduling, equipment inspection, POS monitoring, guest complaint resolution, and post-event reporting
- Train new and current employees on procedures and best practices
- Cover or back up any open positions to maintain operations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and company policies
- Complete post-event evaluations and data reporting
- Maintain a safe and harassment-free work environment
- Provide ongoing training, assistance, and mentoring to staff and volunteers
- Maintain knowledge of sanitation, food preparation, alcohol service, and safety standards
