Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, renowned for its comprehensive platform that includes venue development, management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Since its founding in 2015, OVG has become a trusted name in the live entertainment industry, managing seven world-class venues and serving some of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company is dedicated to enhancing the live event experience by providing innovative solutions and unparalleled service to both venues and patrons.
The Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center located in Corpus Christi, Texas, is one of the prestigious venues overseen by OVG. Serving as a multipurpose convention and event facility, the center hosts a wide range of events including conferences, concerts, trade shows, and community gatherings. The historic and vibrant atmosphere coupled with state-of-the-art amenities makes it an ideal location for memorable events.
The General Manager role is a full-time, regular position based at the Ortiz International Center, offering an annual salary between $70,000 and $80,000, with eligibility for bonuses. This pivotal leadership role demands a dynamic professional responsible for ensuring the efficient, professional, and profitable operation of all food service operations, venue management services, and driving sales and revenue growth for the venue. The General Manager holds overarching responsibility for managing every managerial, full-time, and part-time staff member to maintain operational excellence and compliance with labor laws, sanitation and food safety ordinances, as well as alcohol service regulations.
This role is instrumental in managing daily business and venue operations while proactively seeking new revenue sources both on-site and off-site to enhance the venue's profitability. This includes overseeing financial management duties such as generating and reviewing budgets, projections, P&L statements, revenue analysis, and cost control of labor and products. The General Manager is also tasked with coordinating a variety of marketing channels, including digital and social media campaigns, press releases, and maintaining strong media and community relations.
Employee development and team leadership are crucial components of this position. The General Manager is expected to supervise, coach, counsel, and mentor staff members, handling employee performance issues, training, and ensuring a positive workplace environment that encourages cooperation and compliance with company policies. The role calls for someone with flexibility to work variable event-driven schedules, including nights and weekends, and strong skills in technology, particularly point-of-sale systems and computer applications.
In summary, the General Manager will serve as the operational leader and face of the venue, responsible for smooth event execution, high-quality service delivery, staff management, and financial oversight. This position requires an individual who is detail-oriented, adept at multitasking, demonstrates professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills, and is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive work environment. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching, and generous paid time off including vacation, sick days, and holidays. This opening remains available until October 16, 2026, presenting an excellent career opportunity with a global entertainment leader.
