Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, known for its innovative approach to venue development, management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Founded in 2015 by industry veterans Tim Leiweke and Irving Azoff, OVG has rapidly become the largest developer and operator of sports and entertainment facilities worldwide, managing over 300 venues across the United States and Canada. The company's vision focuses on long-term investments in people, community, and the environment, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture built on integrity, respect, an entrepreneurial spirit, and community engagement. OVG's commitment to excellence is reflected in its comprehensive platform that supports world-class arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions spanning four continents.
The Blue Arena at The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, Colorado, managed by Oak View Group, is a 6,800-seat multi-purpose venue with a rich history dating back to its opening in September 2003. Serving as the home for the Colorado Eagles hockey team of the American Hockey League, Blue Arena is a vital hub for sports, entertainment, and community events in Northern Colorado. Owned by Larimer County, this arena can accommodate a wide range of events including hockey, basketball, football, rodeos, concerts, family shows, trade shows, and diverse configurations to suit various productions. Its strategic location near Denver and Cheyenne makes it an accessible destination for large-scale events and entertainment.
The role of the Event Manager at Blue Arena is a pivotal full-time position offering an annual salary range of $58,000 to $62,000. This role is entrusted with two primary areas of responsibility: managing the Guest Service staff and overseeing the comprehensive execution of assigned events. The Event Manager leads recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of the Guest Service staff to ensure exceptional service quality and operational efficiency during events. This leadership role entails conducting biannual training programs, managing work schedules, and evaluating staff performance to maintain a motivated and capable team.
In addition to staff management, the Event Manager plays a critical role in the logistical planning and operational management of events within the arena. This includes developing event layouts using AutoCAD, coordinating schedules for event staff, facilitating communication among all event stakeholders, and managing the preparation and submission of final event billing. The role requires coordination with tour personnel and production teams to address technical requirements such as equipment, union labor needs, and production setup.
The Event Manager is also responsible for administrative duties such as maintaining open communication channels with tenants and contractors, ensuring all necessary permits and insurance certificates are secured timely, and managing event budgets by preparing financial estimates and settlements aligned with event contracts. This thorough attention to detail helps maintain the high standards expected at Blue Arena and supports the venue’s reputation as a premier event destination.
This position demands flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential extended shifts up to 20 hours. Candidates must be physically capable of handling the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and enduring extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and other physical activities in various environmental conditions. Blue Arena and Oak View Group emphasize the importance of a professional, respectful, and inclusive work environment, seeking individuals who embody these values and contribute to a dynamic team dedicated to delivering outstanding event experiences.
