The Event Manager role at the Mobile Convention Center presents an exciting career opportunity within Oak View Group’s dynamic and innovative environment. This full-time position offers a salary range of $50,000 to $55,000 annually and encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities centered on flawless event delivery and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will lead the event planning and execution process for conferences, trade shows, meetings, exhibitions, social events, and special projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client expectations.

Key facets of the role include developing and managing comprehensive operational plans covering event setup, floor layouts, and cost estimates. The Event Manager will oversee the construction and arrangement of exhibits and displays, coordinate with vendors and service providers, and serve as the primary liaison between clients and venue departments. Efficient collaboration with departments such as Sales, Marketing, Facility Operations, Security, Finance, Human Resources, and Venue Partners is essential to coordinate logistics, guarantee compliance with safety protocols, and deliver exceptional event experiences.

The position demands a proactive leader skilled in budget management, vendor relations, and operational forecasting, with hands-on involvement in pre-event, onsite, and post-event activities. This includes conducting walkthroughs, managing change orders, preparing post-event settlements, and ensuring all policies and procedures are understood and followed by staff and clients alike. Expertise in utilizing event management systems and software is crucial.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years of event management experience or related fields
  • Working knowledge of facility management and services
  • Experience with budget preparation and control
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Ability to maintain professional knowledge and skills

Job Duties

  • Acts as the central contact during all phases of event management for clients and contractors
  • Receives, assembles, and distributes event information to team members
  • Provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
  • Oversees and manages all event-related services provided by the venue
  • Ensure team members and clients are familiar with safety and emergency procedures
  • Coordinate and utilize the event records management system
  • Works with team members to develop and maintain positive customer service
  • Handles event coordination with respect to Event Work Orders and Change Orders
  • Enforce building policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Provides on-floor management of event services
  • Set up and coordinate all primary and pre-event meetings
  • Provides a complete schedule and record for all show-related activities
  • Manage budget and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Conduct pre, during, and post walkthroughs for setup and safety
  • Guide clients in contract interpretation and event preparation
  • Provide exceptional client service
  • Maintain constant communication with clients on event logistics
  • Ensure daily post reports during load-in, event days, and load-out
  • Proficient in financial management and event estimates
  • Prepare post-event settlements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
