The Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, located in Corpus Christi, TX, is part of this extensive network of venues managed by OVG. This center hosts a variety of events, offering diverse food and beverage services to its guests. As part of this vibrant and fast-paced setting, the company is seeking a motivated Part-Time Cook to join the team. This role involves preparing menu items efficiently and maintaining high standards of food quality to ensure guest satisfaction. The Cook position demands a strong focus on portion control, minimizing food waste, and adhering to sanitation protocols. The hourly wage for this role ranges from $13.00 to $15.00, reflecting the company’s commitment to offering competitive compensation.

The Part-Time Cook will be responsible for cooking and packaging food items prepared to order or kept warm until sold, handling verbal orders from front counter staff, and maintaining production standards for menu items to ensure food freshness and quality. Equipment operation, including grills, deep-fat fryers, and ovens, is a critical part of the role. The Cook will also be charged with cleaning, stocking, and restocking workstations and displays, ensuring work areas and utensils are clean and properly maintained, and that floors are swept and mopped by the end of the shift. The role includes collaboration with the Sous Chef or Executive Chef to verify kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, the ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented and event-driven environment, and have experience in food preparation roles such as prep or line cook positions. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal laws.
