We are currently seeking to hire an Assistant Captain to join our front-of-house team. The Assistant Captain plays a key role in supporting the Captain to deliver consistent, high-level service throughout the guest experience. This position is designed to provide professional growth opportunities for team members preparing to advance into a Captain role. It involves assisting with food and beverage service execution including taking cocktail and dessert orders, operating the POS system, and ensuring timely delivery of items to guests. The Assistant Captain must maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and adhere to the refined service standards expected within our luxury dining setting. A background in serving combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work efficiently under structured service protocols are essential for success in this role.

As an Assistant Captain, you will be responsible for facilitating smooth service flow through attentive guest engagement, order accuracy, and support to fellow staff members. You will interact regularly with restaurant management, culinary teams, bartenders, and other service personnel to ensure seamless restaurant operations. The role demands a guest-centric attitude with focused attention on meeting and exceeding customer expectations. This is a developmental position offering robust training and hands-on experience in fine dining service standards, positioning you for future leadership opportunities within the restaurant's team hierarchy. All these responsibilities occur in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where composure and professionalism are paramount. The Assistant Captain will also uphold state and federal regulations regarding alcohol service and maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all guests and team members.

Job Requirements

  • Prior restaurant service experience as a server required
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • must obtain and maintain required licenses or certifications as applicable
  • CPR and/or first aid certification preferred
  • ability to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
  • ability to walk stand reach handle feel talk hear and see
  • maintain composure professionalism and guest-focused demeanor during service periods

Job Qualifications

  • Prior serving experience required refined or luxury restaurant experience preferred
  • working knowledge of food and beverage service standards and dining room etiquette
  • ability to operate POS systems and process guest checks accurately
  • ability to take cocktail and dessert orders confidently and professionally
  • strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work efficiently in fast-paced dining environment

Job Duties

  • Support the captain in delivering smooth and polished dining experience
  • greet guests courteously and professionally
  • assist in explaining menu items specials and promotions
  • take and enter cocktail dessert and other beverage orders accurately into the POS system
  • verify order accuracy and presentation and deliver promptly with accompaniments
  • monitor tables for guest needs and escalate concerns
  • respond to guest requests timely and professionally
  • present and process guest checks per procedures
  • follow established steps of service and maintain consistent service flow
  • adhere to alcohol service regulations including ID verification
  • maintain professionalism and guest-focused demeanor
  • check assigned station for setup cleanliness and readiness
  • assist with clearing and resetting tables
  • perform opening running and closing side work including restocking and cleaning
  • attend meetings and training
  • collaborate with restaurant management culinary team and bartenders
