The role of Reliability Specialist within Nestle Health Science is a pivotal position focused on building and sustaining a best-in-class maintenance culture specifically within the Aseptic Filling and Secondary Packaging operations. This position partners closely with both Operations and Maintenance teams to minimize recurring equipment issues, improve asset reliability, and promote the disciplined use of preventive and predictive maintenance best practices. As the subject matter expert for the aseptic platform, the Reliability Specialist is entrusted with providing technical leadership, coaching, and problem-solving expertise while upholding Nestle’s Ways of Standard Manufacturing (NWSM) maintenance standards. The specialist exercises independent judgment and provides indirect leadership daily, driving continuous improvement initiatives across people, processes, and equipment reliability. The role operates on the 3rd shift, Monday through Friday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with schedule flexibility to support training sessions, TPM/TPMS events, and continuous improvement initiatives. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree plus 3-5 years of maintenance experience in aseptic or food manufacturing or 7+ years of maintenance experience in aseptic or food manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 2-3 years of experience working with aseptic fillers and cappers preferred
  • Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning, and maintenance execution
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities while considering safety, food safety, and operational constraints
  • Experience with TPM or continuous improvement methodologies
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or technical leadership experience preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Experience with TPM or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 7 KSR plus digital tools)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or technical leadership experience preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound technical recommendations
  • Ownership mindset with proactive cooperation and accountability
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • SAP experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Own and continuously optimize the Tetra Pak Planned Maintenance System (TPMS) for aseptic filling equipment in collaboration with vendors, engineers, and technical experts
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend preventive maintenance improvements, parts optimization, and maintenance window efficiency to enhance asset reliability
  • Coach and train TPMS mechanics to ensure all PM activities align with Nestlé and Tetra Pak standards and best practices
  • Operate autonomously as the Tetra Pak Reliability Specialist, leading reliability routines and adhering to Nestlé Ways of Standard Manufacturing maintenance standards
  • Lead and support structured problem-solving efforts to improve equipment efficiency and reduce chronic losses
  • Act as system owner and coach for maintenance teams using methodologies such as DMAIC, Go-See-Think-Do, Breakdown Analysis, and loss analysis tools
  • Support improvement initiatives related to Steri Tanks and other critical aseptic assets
  • Align, coordinate, and ensure flawless execution of all TPMS events for installed factory assets
  • Ensure parts are properly kitted, staged, and available prior to scheduled events
  • Drive on-time completion of TPMS activities strictly following MI 22.503 Annex 3 – Maintenance Models for Tetra Pak Carton Aseptic Lines
  • Provide hands-on technical expertise and coaching for aseptic filling and secondary packaging equipment
  • Guide proper utilization and governance of AMM, DMO, and PLMS systems
  • Support required evaluations during the Pre-Check phase of TPMS events
  • Prepare and deliver clear performance and reliability communications to Nestlé and Tetra Pak leadership
  • Use real-time coaching to actively build maintenance and TPMS team capability
  • Become qualified as a Management of Change (MOC) Project Manager
  • Lead improvement projects identified by the Line Council (LC), coordinating cross-functional resources and applying structured problem solving
  • Partner with Tetra Pak Engineering and on-site Field Engineers to ensure factory upgrades meet defined Tetra Pak standards for the Eau Claire facility
  • Support and assess factory maintenance improvement initiatives targeting unplanned and planned downtime reduction
  • Apply the SDCA (Standardize, Do, Check, Act) methodology to address top operational losses
  • Serve as an active contributor to Nestlé’s continuous improvement culture
  • Follow all factory safety and environmental objectives and plant rules
  • Promptly report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and Nestlé Safety & Environmental Management Systems
  • Actively reduce environmental impact through energy conservation, waste reduction, and proper recycling practices
  • Adhere to all Nestlé food safety and quality standards and goals
  • Follow Nestlé Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and report quality or food safety concerns immediately
  • Maintain compliance with the Nestlé Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Understand and apply food safety and quality requirements outlined in SOPs, OJTs, and QMS documentation
