Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to successfully complete Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Must comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications

- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, interactive environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Greet and welcome guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- Perform a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- Provide guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon inquiry
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
- Ask guests for cooking preferences and follow their instructions
- Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using kitchen equipment
- Perform shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
- Maintain kitchen, teppan cooking areas, equipment and food storage areas clean, sanitary and organized
- Report equipment or maintenance issues to the chief chef or manager on duty
- Prepare foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- Adhere to food presentation and garnish guidelines
- Handle, store, label and rotate foods properly following public health, state and local laws
- Use knives, hand tools and equipment to prepare food
- Adhere to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- Present a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner with guests
- Notify manager when guests are dissatisfied or if an accident occurs
- Participate in ensuring guest special occasion celebrations are memorable
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
