The role of Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass is a pivotal position designed to support the quality and efficiency of repairs by maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of customer vehicles both before and after service. A vital member of the operations team, the Porter also ensures that the shop and office environments are clean, orderly, and professionally maintained to create an optimal setting for staff and customers alike.
The Porter is responsible for executing the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan, a framework designed to achieve consistent excellence in service delivery and workplace presentation. Daily housekeeping duties include emptying garbage cans, cleaning and dusting office spaces, and maintaining the production area by sweeping floors, disposing of vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment appropriately. The role extends to maintaining outdoor areas such as parking lots and sidewalks, including tasks like shoveling during the winter months to keep the property safe and accessible.
Prepping vehicles is a major aspect of the Porter’s duties, which involves pre-washing vehicles before repairs and performing thorough exterior and interior cleanups once the repairs are complete. Additionally, the Porter facilitates the transport of customer vehicles to sublet locations when required, demonstrating the importance of reliability and trustworthiness in this role.
