Labcorp is currently seeking a dedicated Technologist Trainee to join their team in Dublin, Ohio. This full-time role offers a work schedule of Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing a clear work-life balance for prospective employees. The position features a competitive pay range between $23.00 and $35.00 per hour, with compensation dependent on candidate skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and market data.
As a Technologist Trainee, the successful candidate will play an integral part in the clinical laboratory operations, performing complex and routine technical procedures according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsibilities include determining specimen acceptability, operating and troubleshooting lab instrumentation, preparing and evaluating reagents or controls, and ensuring timely, accurate reporting of test results. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science, clinical laboratory science or medical technology
- 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- 3 months or more experience in chemistry
- Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Job Duties
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
