Labcorp is currently seeking a Technician to join their team in Tulsa, Oklahoma on a part-time basis. This role is a crucial part of the laboratory operations, focusing on the accurate processing and analysis of biological specimens. The Technician will be responsible for performing routine and complex technical procedures as per departmental standard operating procedures, ensuring all laboratory activities meet the established quality standards. This position requires proficiency in operating and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, conducting preventative maintenance and quality control, and managing specimen acceptability. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong ability to make technical decisions related to testing and problem-solving while maintaining meticulous documentation and delivering accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.

In addition to technical expertise, the Technician will play a key role in maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to personal protective equipment guidelines and replenishing testing bench supplies as necessary. Collaboration with other team members will be essential to assist in specimen processing and to ensure overall laboratory efficiency. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology preferred
  • One year or more of previous clinical laboratory testing experience preferred
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience preferred
  • Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Job Duties

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
