The full-time Cook position at Southland Casino provides an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals to advance their careers within a supportive and fast-paced environment. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in maintaining the kitchen’s high standards by preparing food according to established recipes, ensuring proper portion control, and complying with all food safety and sanitation regulations. Working closely with other kitchen staff, you will help train team members and contribute to smooth operational flow. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of previous experience in a back-of-the-house foodservice position
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Basic math skills, with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements
  • No high school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to reach up to seven feet, bend, and squat
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire length of shift in moderate to high noise levels
  • Manual ability to chop, mix, blend, whip a variety of foods and liquids and operate kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work in variable temperature conditions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare food to comply with all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, ensuring proper food temperatures are maintained, food is stored correctly, the freshness and quality of all menu items are maintained, and packages all products to proper specifications
  • Keep workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Use waste control guidelines and record all waste on the spoilage sheet
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties and end-of-day inventory
  • Assist in training team members
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Uphold all health codes and sanitation regulations
