Job Description
Dig Food Group is a dynamic and growing food company that is committed to building a better food system for everyone by sourcing, cooking, and serving delicious, scratch-made meals every day. Established nine years ago, Dig has expanded to include more than 30 fast-casual Dig restaurants as well as its first full-service restaurant, 232 Bleecker. The company prides itself on its direct relationships with over 130 farms, including its own Dig Acres, partnering with independent, first-time, women, immigrant, LGBTQ, and people of color farmers. This approach allows Dig to consistently offer the best seasonal ingredients and adapt their menu based on what is growing in the fields, reinforcing their mission to create sustainability and inclusivity within the food industry.
At Dig, every restaurant operates with an onsite culinary team led by a chef. The kitchens are 100% scratch-based with no microwaves, can openers, or freezers, emphasizing fresh, quality food made from raw, real ingredients. This model empowers the company to teach cooking skills from the ground up, cultivating the next generation of chefs. Dig believes that knife skills are life skills and they nurture culinary talent by focusing on education, leadership development, and a supportive team environment.
The Team Member role at Dig offers an exciting opportunity to be part of this thriving culinary environment. As a Team Member, you will work in a fast-paced kitchen performing tasks such as prepping, mixing, and cooking vegetables, proteins, and grains using established recipes and taste as your guide. You will gain exposure to various kitchen stations, including garde manger, grill, roast, market line, guest concierge, and delivery/packout. The role includes interacting with guests by sharing knowledge of current menu offerings, seasonality, and ingredients, enhancing their dining experience with delicious scratch-made meals known as market bowls.
This position demands multitasking and physical stamina, with the expectation of lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Team Members also play a key role in maintaining high food safety standards and upholding the company’s anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Beyond the daily duties, employees at Dig take pride in contributing to a larger mission aimed at rebuilding the food system to be more equitable and accessible.
Dig Food Group supports employee growth by providing competitive pay ($16-18/hr plus tips), opportunities for advancement within a team-oriented culture, flexible scheduling (part-time and full-time), optional 4-day workweeks, and complimentary lunches. The company offers generous paid time off including holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, commuter benefits, and a workplace that values communication, collaboration, and continuous learning. If you are passionate about real, good food and want to develop culinary skills in a supportive and innovative environment, Dig Food Group invites you to join their family and help shape the future of food service.
