Applegreen US operates a robust network of over 100 travel plazas across the Northeast and Midwest regions of the United States. The Team Member role within Applegreen US is a dynamic position pivotal to the day-to-day operations of its travel plazas. It is a non-exempt role within the operations department and reports directly to the General Manager. Positions are available on both a part-time and full-time basis, with varied shift options to accommodate flexible scheduling which is essential during the busiest times of the year, particularly from April 1st through September 30th when seasonal associates are most heavily recruited. Seasonal Associates are an integral part of the workforce during peak business periods and are afforded valuable benefits such as meal discounts, earned wage access, referral bonuses, and sick time (Flex).

As a Team Member, you will be expected to deliver exceptional customer service by engaging positively and helpfully with travelers. The role includes responsibilities such as operating the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately process payments, adhering strictly to cash handling and customer service protocols, and ensuring all food handling procedures meet standards for safety, quality, and presentation. You'll also participate in various kitchen-related activities including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, and cleaning tasks to maintain an efficient and sanitary workspace. The position demands a proactive attitude toward cross-selling and up-selling products, a solid understanding of the products and services available in the plaza, and compliance with all brand standards, food safety requirements, and company policies. It is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina to meet the job's demands as well as a commitment to maintaining consistent attendance and punctuality.

Job Requirements

  • Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
  • frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
  • requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
  • cash handling and customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers (travelers)
  • operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process and receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
  • ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
  • complete a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
  • stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
  • actively cross-sell and up-sell products
  • maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
  • follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
  • execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
