Job Description
The LA Clippers are a renowned professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California, competing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Known for their dynamic performance on the court and commitment to excellence, the organization extends this dedication to their off-court operations, including their culinary services. The LA Clippers emphasize nutrition and well-being as integral components of player performance and team success. Their state-of-the-art Intuit Dome, opened in August 2024 in Inglewood, CA, serves not only as the home court for the team but also boasts an impressive training facility, business offices, and advanced amenities. This cutting-edge arena is a hub for sporting events and concerts, featuring an expansive outdoor plaza and innovative technology such as an acre-sized double-sided LED Halo Board. Situated in this vibrant and progressive environment, the LA Clippers foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The Team Chef role at the LA Clippers is a vital position dedicated to crafting performance-driven meals tailored specifically for the nutritional needs of NBA players, coaches, and the basketball operations staff. This is a full-time position based at the Inglewood facility and offers a competitive annual salary range between $70,340 and $82,000, classified as an exempt role. The Team Chef is expected to exhibit culinary expertise, reliability, and the ability to adapt swiftly within a fast-paced and dynamic kitchen environment. The successful candidate will lead in preparing and executing a variety of meals that meet stringent nutritional standards, flavor profiles, and presentation requirements, ensuring each meal supports optimal athletic performance and health.
The role demands an individual who can actively contribute to service flow by anticipating kitchen needs and filling in at different stations when necessary, all while maintaining seamless coordination with the broader training facility environment. Communication with players and staff regarding meal specifics, dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests is critical to deliver personalized nutrition. Additionally, the Team Chef will uphold rigorous food safety practices, including proper handling, labeling, and storage in accordance with local regulations and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards.
Inventory management is another key aspect, as the Team Chef monitors product usage, minimizes waste, maintains storage cleanliness, and liaises with senior chefs to communicate ordering needs. Leadership responsibilities include training and supervising interns and dishwashers, participating in pre-shift nutrition education sessions, and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. The LA Clippers value innovation and encourage staff to leverage emerging technologies and AI tools to enhance creativity and operational efficiency.
Employment with the LA Clippers comes with a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision plans, a 401(k) plan with company contributions, a wellbeing allowance, paid vacation and parental leave, and various insurance options, along with programs supporting financial wellness and mental health. The organization is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, offering reasonable accommodations and abiding by relevant employment laws. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support game days and high-profile events at Intuit Dome.
